Utsav - Gujarati Theme Lunch

Utsav was the first Gujarati theme lunch hosted by the Second year students of DBC – HS on 31st July 2013. Keeping in mind the finer aspects of regional cuisine, the students committed themselves to serving the guests with authentic Gujarati food comprehensive in its flavours, tastes and textures.

Utsav was especially a challenging theme lunch for the second year students as Gujarati cuisine is predominantly vegetarian and generally meets with a lukewarm response. However, this did not dampen the spirits of students hosting Utsav, and with their excellent marketing strategies and go-getter attitude in place, they surpassed the sales target and ploughed on undeterred. From ‘chass’ the welcome drink to the different combinations of vegetables and spices, the food production team played on the guest’s palate, conjuring a gamut of distinctive tastes.

The guests dined in the restaurants that displayed traditional Gujarati patakas, bandhani swags and dainty earthenware. They also regaled to the tunes of garba and dandiya and the students left no stone unturned in creating the perfect Gujarati lunch for every guest. Padharo mhare desh (Welcome to our country) was the tagline at Utsav and the second year students worked together with whole-hearted commitment and dedication, which was rewarded with kudos from all patrons at Utsav.
